Staff in chain hotels, while very good at their job, are trained to deal with large numbers of people and get guests through the door as quickly as possible. This can lead to guests feeling rather unwelcome. A boutique hotel runs on a much smaller scale and staff are able to treat visitors in a much more warm and friendly manner as a result.
